About Jürg The Gourmet Traveller. Born in Basel Switzerland on the border to France and Germany. The father being a wine cooper and the mother working in Restaurants, made the path of my passion clear very early. Already as a young boy I was brought in to wine makers in France, Germany and in Switzerland. My cooking was influenced by my German mother and my Swiss father. The career in the Restaurant and Hotel business started when I was 16 years old. Not knowing that I would be in it until I was 48 years old before I changed into the Tourism trade to become a Tour Manager. The love of international food and beverages is still in me and I never stop learning to cook and trying new seasonal and regional specialties. As well as the love for special food and beverages, travelling is a very important influence in what I do now. My first flights to England and Ireland in 1982 did inspire me to work with International Chefs and Service staff. After running and starting up several Swiss Restaurants and Concept Bars I didn't have a lot of time anymore to take more then two weeks out at a time. So my travelling was limited but very intense. I felt like Anthony Bourdin. One week here and the next in another part of the world. Now December until April I am the sun seeker and find new spots in the world that are on my "Bucket list". There is so much to see and to cook and to try on the the Planet. I'm ready for it "ARE YOU"?
